Custom Mouthpiece
The two-piece mouthpiece system
for trumpet and cornet conceived and designed by Dennis Najoom.
|
| Known for his NajoomÒ Trumpet
Leadpipe and French BessonÒ
Classic series trumpets, Dennis Najoom wanted to design a mouthpiece
system that would closely address the needs of the professional trumpet
player who needs to be versatile enough to play in any style.
These superior quality trumpet
and cornet mouthpieces are made using state-of-the-art CNC
lathes. Then, each one is hand inspected under a magnifying glass
before being approved for sale (really).
This is a simple system where a
player can keep the same rim but
have five different cups, and four different backbores with very
different playing characteristics. Simply order the mouthpiece
top and the backbore to suit your needs.

From the TPIN..."I play on the Najoom mouthpieces and I
like them a great deal.
They play very evenly and in tune throughout the range. In
fact, I have
gotten so used to how easy they are to play, that I am having a great
deal of trouble
playing on other things. I really can't say enough about the
mouthpieces. I
have been trying several other mouthpieces against the Najoom ones in
an effort to be sure
I am on the right one, and so far I have not found anything that I like
better." --W.D.

Letters describe the cup depth
Choose from one of five
cup depths.
| MD |
The
deepest cup with a large beautifully smooth sound. |
| C |
The newest
cup. Between the MD and M, it produces a full sound with good
ring. |
| M |
A little
smaller and shaped differently than the MD. It is well centered and
full sounding, ideal for most situations. |
| MS |
Great for
commercial and pops and is well suited for Eb and D playing. |
| S, or Insta-LeadÔ |
A new generation of lead mouthpiece for those
who can play a shallow cup. Although shallow, the sides below
the rim drop in order to give the lips room to vibrate. You’ll
know why it’s called the Insta-Lead. |

What
would you recommend I try in your mouthpiece line?
Start with a rim diameter
similar to what you are presently playing. Then try the series in
that size.
Is
your 3 rim diameter similar to a Bach 3C diameter?
Our 3 is very close to a 1½ rim
diameter. 1½ and 3C players have no problem playing
them.
How
would you compare the rim shape of your M cup and C cup to similar Bach
cup?
The M cup is close to a
1½ C cup. This may be the ideal mouthpiece for all around
playing. Our 3C/M is very slightly shallower than a 1½C
with a rim that is a little flatter with a bit more bite. The
3C/MD has a deeper slightly more V shaped cup and has a beautiful
smooth sound. The C cup is good for big brilliant orchestral
work. I use the MS for most normal pops playing and reserve the S
for high penetrating big band style work. The S cup with a 117
backbore is good for pic.
I'm
looking for an all around mouthpiece to use for Bb and C trumpet
playing. What would
you recommend for me your mouthpiece line?
The all around mouthpiece might be the 3C/M
with a 10 backbore for the Bb and a 24 backbore for the C trumpet.
I
play solo cornet in a brass band, so I'm looking for a cornet
mouthpiece. What would
you recommend for me to consider for my cornet playing?
For cornet I suggest the MD cup
with a 117 backbore.
Is
the rim of your "Vintage" cornet mouthpiece different than your other
rims?
Our Vintage cornet mouthpiece is
designed for the British Style cornet player. It is very deep
with a larger cup, a flatter rim, and has a very large backbore.

"...I
am quite satisfied with my Najoom mouthpiece (1CMD with 117 backbore),
which replaces a
Bach 1. It works well in all registers and dynamics, and is
extremely comfortable.
The only downside is that I have even fewer excuses for shoddy
playing...!"

"I am writing to know if you
send things
internationally. The trumpet players here have been trying my stuff and
have fallen in
love with your mouthpieces. One trumpet player in particular
wants to buy a 1C/C
(the one that I am using) ... and a 24 backbore. He also wants to have
a 1CS top to go
with his backbore for more popular and screaming things that he does."

Uruguay (Yes, we
send things internationally.)
